Christmas Day

Christmas morning, while others are waking up super early to see what Santa has left them, our family slept in until 9:30am.  When we finally did get up, we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast of "thin things" (crepes) with blackberries that Jason made.  Then, we sat down to open our stockings.
The rest of our day was pretty laid back.  This year, we won't be celebrating Christmas with Jason's family until the weekend, so it's just us today.
Jeremy and Jason spent time putting together a solar robot.

Jason gave the kids the challenge of building a lego nativity set.

Inspired by MasterChef Junior, Grace had asked me a few weeks ago if she could make our family dinner.  Jokingly, I told her, "How about on Christmas Day?"  She actually took me up on the challenge!  She made our Christmas dinner, from choosing the recipe, to grocery shopping, to cooking it.  We enjoyed a wonderful Linguine with Basil Shrimp.
For dessert, we tried something new this year.  Jason's mom got us a fire pit last Christmas and we haven't used it all year.  It was time to try it out!  Even though the weather was a bit chilly, I truly enjoyed sitting outside together, keeping warm by the fire, roasting marshmallows, talking, and eating s'mores.  It was the perfect end to our Christmas Day!
