Almost Half Way There!

Well, I'm just about 19 weeks along. In comparison to my pregnancy with Grace, this time around has been completely different. With Grace, I didn't really have any symptoms (aside from the contractions I started having 6 weeks prior to Grace's arrival). The one thing I will always remember is how I craved cheeseburgers and could have had one every day. With this little one, I've had major morning sickness, extreme fatigue, and I really think I could eat fried chicken every day. I gained a total of 35 pounds the first time, and didn't wear an entire maternity outfit until the 5th month. This time around, I definitely started showing sooner, and started wearing maternity outfits weeks ago. Tomorrow is the day that Jason and I go for our "big" ultrasound. I call it "big" because this is the one where if we wanted to (and our baby cooperated), we could find out what we're having... Except that we're not going to! We found out with Grace, so we've had the experience of knowing beforehand. Jason really wants to know with this one as well, but I want to be surprised! If we get some good images, we'll find a way to post them. We'll also let you know if I caved in at the last minute and decided to find out what we're having!

Shaver Lake

This weekend was Jason's parents' anniversary... It was going to be a hard occasion to "celebrate," so the family decided to get together and spend a night at their Shaver Lake cabin. The kids had a blast playing with each other, and the same goes for the adults. After the kids went to bed, we played Rook (this is a Mennonite family, after all!), Perpetual Commotion (one of mine and Jason's favorites), and Pick Four (can't get enough of this game!). Today, we went horseback riding. Well, not me- being pregnant, I just didn't feel safe getting on a horse. Anyway, Grace LOVED it. She kept telling the horse, Cody, to go faster (he didn't). When Cody stopped to munch on the grass along the way, Grace told him, "Cody, eat at home!" The ride lasted about an hour, and the trail went along Shaver Lake. When she returned, she was so excited to share with me about "horsey Cody." I just hope there won't be a day when she says she wants a pony!!!After we got back to the cabin, Grace decided she wanted to try out her cousin's bike, never mind the fact that she still hasn't quite figured out how to ride a tricyle, much less a big girl bike... Anyway, with Jason's help, she got to experience bike riding for the first time- it was a day for "firsts!"

Happy Mother's Day!

Just some pictures of the reason why today exists for me.
Gracie is truly such a gift and I know how blessed I am to have her in my life.
Jason treated me and his mom to a delicious lunch today. It was a nice, relaxing time. To both of our moms, and all of my dear friends who are moms- Happy Mother's Day!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

Yesterday was 90 something degrees
outside and guess where I was in the blistering heat?! My class was given tickets to attend the Fresno Grizzlies' day game against Las Vegas' 51s. It was a reward for students who have "Made the Grade." Anyway, most of you know that watching baseball is not one of my favorite past-times (give me hockey any day), much less sitting in the hot sun, surrounded by kids eating tons of junk food, and all the while, being pregnant. I called Jason (who was of course, at work) right before the game started to share with him that I was calling him from our seats along the 3rd base side, second row, field level. The Grizzlies were very nice- some of them came over and gave our kids some autographs, but aside from that, we were pretty much up close with the 51s. We had to leave the game early so the kids could return to school in time to take their regular buses home, but by then, it was so hot that they were all relieved when it was time to go. Sorry, I forgot to take pictures. Here are two just to show you how close to the field we were.
